ADCOM's new GCD-750 single disc CD player was developed to satisfy the needs of music lovers and audiophiles who want nothing less than the best in audio CD performance and the newest decoding technologies of HDCD.

The GCD-750 starts with digital processing circuitry first developed for ADCOM's widely praised GDA-600 and GDA-700 stand alone D/A converters. The acclaimed Pacific Microsonics PMD-100 oversampling digital filter/HDCD decoder then processes the digital data. After oversampling and high-speed processing, the data stream feeds two differential pairs of 20-bit linear Burr-Brown D/A converters. This ensures full replication of even the most subtle musical nuance. The resulting analog signal, in turn, feeds a discrete high current differential output stage implemented with MOSFET transistors, long recognized in audiophile circles for their unique combination of dynamic punch and tube-like smoothness.

In common with all ADCOM products, the GCD-750's power supply is substantial. In this "dual mono" implementation, two separate transformers provide operating voltages for the unit's various stages through separate secondary windings. A full complement of high current regulators and over sized storage capacitors ensures proper operating voltages to all circuitry stages.

The GCD-750's disc transport is a rugged, high mass, three beam design optimized for superior vibration resistance. The chassis, along with the heavy gauge extruded aluminum face panel, are carefully executed to provide additional stability, mechanical isolation, and damping. The resulting platform is exceptionally resistant to the deleterious effects of spurious resonances.

The GCD-750 features both balanced (XLR) and single ended (RCA) outputs to complement the input capabilities of any system control center. Future utility is guaranteed by a supplementary coaxial digital input designed to allow owners of auxiliary digital sources (DSS receivers, Laser Disc players, or DVD transports with digital outputs) to enjoy the same exceptional sound quality with appropriate music programming. Convenience features include full remote control, custom programming, repeat modes, random play capability, and a clear calendar display of all disc cuts.

The GCD-750 combines everything we've learned about linear 20-bit D/A conversion and analog circuitry design with a rock solid CD transport. In addition to the audible advantages inherent in a properly executed "single box" player, the GCD-750 brings truly convenient operation and easy access to individual musical selections. The over specified power supply and MOSFET analog circuitry delivers stunningly dimensional sound from any properly recorded compact disc and the HDCD decoding circuitry provides accurate reproduction of all HDCD encoded CDs.
