| Klipsch RCW-3The Reference Series RCW-3 two-way, in-wall loudspeaker’s pivoting square Tractrix® Horn and copper-colored aluminum woofer are tell-tale signs that it matches every Reference Series loudspeaker just like the RCW-5, RCR-5 and RCR-3. Its Reference Custom standard gold-plated, spring loaded input connectors and industry standard installation kit make it particularly appealing to people who value simplicity and attention to detail. Rotating Horn: The newly developed rotating Klipsch Tractrix® Horn maximizes the live qualities of your music and movies. Horn design dramatically increases efficiency, which is important, because it enables the Klipsch loudspeaker to produce more output using less energy. This improves reliability and eliminates audible distortion. Our Tractrix® Horn is a refined hybrid design that reproduces tightly focused midrange and high frequencies and maintains a pleasing open and neutral character without tonal coloration. Because our rotating Tractrix® Horn allows you to aim the sound where you want it to go, the direct to reflected energy ratio is high in the listening area creating a large soundstage with well-defined imaging.
Compression Driver: We've gone out of our way to make sure that every Klipsch tweeter is constructed from the best performance enhancing materials available. Our Reference Series compression drivers employ a highly engineered, one-piece titanium dome/suspension design driven by an uncommonly large magnet. This combination offers the speed and accuracy needed to deliver crystal clear midrange and high frequencies at any volume level. This design is so efficient that it eliminates the most common cause of driver failure — excessive energy. The highly engineered Reference tweeter combines enhanced power handling with class leading dynamic headroom.
Woofer Cone: Yes. It's sexy looking. But it's way more than just easy on the eyes. The Reference Series woofer cone is a combination of high-performance materials that Klipsch calls cerametallic. It's a specially treated aluminum that has been anodized, or electro-chemically transformed into ceramic on both outer surfaces. This ceramic compound is second only to diamond in strength. And cerametallic is also light and well damped, allowing it to move at high speeds without blurring the sound like conventional designs. Combined with its ultra-light rubber surround, our cerametallic woofer cone gives you the exciting peak dynamics and explosive impact of real life.
Big Magnet: You can't see the high-performance motor system of our Reference Series woofers, but you can definitely hear the benefits. More commonly found on drivers nearly twice their size, Reference Series models have unusually large magnets combined with a solid pole pieces. Big magnets produce big results in loudspeakers because they deliver high levels of magnetic flux. This magnetic flux or force provides the push against the variable magnetic field generated by the amplifier and "drives" the woofer back and forth cleanly and efficiently. The powerful Klipsch magnet and solid pole design help to create higher output and enhanced dynamics with better control and undetectable distortion.
Woofer Frame: The Reference Series woofer frame is designed to be stronger and more functional than typical driver baskets and actually contributes to the overall enhanced capability of the loudspeaker. Made from a glass-reinforced polymer, this Klipsch woofer frame has a high impact tolerance that stabilizes the motor and guarantees its critical alignment. The slender polymer frame eliminates reflection, which might otherwise smear detail and reduce dynamics. And the unique venting system cools the motor and voice coil to enhance reliability. Using a non-magnetic material for the frame eliminates any loss of magnetic energy typical of stamped metal housings.
Big Port: The big port is a feature that lowers distortion and allows for better dynamics. How? Certainly not by accident. It's larger size and precise tuning increases efficiency and bass response, which gives you more output with less unwanted noise.
Treble Attenuation Switch: One of the biggest pitfalls of custom installations is unavoidable poor speaker placement. Sometimes you just can't avoid positioning an in-wall or in-ceiling model next to a window, bulk head or even in a corner. And marble, hardwoods and glass walls, or the opposite, lush carpets and tapestries, can dramatically alter the sound of a system. That's why Klipsch has included a treble attenuation switch. It allows you to compensate for environmentally augmented high frequencies by lowering output three decibels, ensuring a smooth refined sound. | FREQUENCY RESPONSE: | 42Hz-20kHz±3dB | | SENSITIVITY: | 93dB @ 1watt/1meter | | POWER HANDLING: | 50 watts maximum continuous (200 watts peak) | | NOMINAL IMPEDANCE: | 8 ohms | | ENCLOSURE TYPE: | Infinite baffle, front flush with wall | | DRIVE COMPONENTS: | Two-way system using one 1" (2.54cm) titanium dome compression driver tweeter with a 6" (15.24cm) square 90°x60° pivoting Tractrix® Horn and one 6.5" (16.51cm) aluminum cone woofer | | TWEETER: | 1" (2.54cm) Titanium dome compression driver | | HIGH FREQUENCY HORN: | 6" square 90°x60° Tractrix® Horn | | HIGH FREQUENCY CROSSOVER: | 2500Hz | | WOOFER: | 6.5" (16.51cm) Cerametallic® cone / cast polymer frame | | DIMENSIONS (H x W x D): | 14.1" (35.8cm) x 9.05" (23cm) | | MOUNTING DEPTH: | 3.75" (9.5cm) | | CUTOUT DIMENSIONS: | 13" (33cm) x 8" (20.3cm) | | WEIGHT: | 5 lbs.
