Klipsch RS-7
List price (MSRP): $450.00 (each)

In conjunction with the introduction of our new Reference Series flagship floorstanding loudspeaker (RF-7), we have introduced RS-7 surround speakers, new high performance rear channel models that match the flagship model in performance, technology, materials and styling. The new RS-7 surrounds also feature Klipsch’s exclusive Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST™), which produces the diffuse effects needed for envelopment as well as the direct sounds necessary for good localization.

The RS-7 was designed to provide "best in class" home theater and multi-channel audio surround sound as part of the ultradynamic Klipsch Reference Series flagship system, including the RF-7 floorstanding loudspeakers, RSW-15 subwoofer and RC-7 center channel. The RS-7s utilize a combination of professional grade materials and advanced horn technology for a smooth response and consistent coverage pattern. Two Reference Series 1" titanium dome compression drivers are coupled to 8" square Tractrix® Horns and powered by unusually large 9.6oz. magnets. This motor assembly offers the speed and accuracy needed to deliver clear, accurate, non-fatiguing high and upper midrange frequencies at any volume level. This design approach is so efficient that it virtually eliminates the most common cause of driver failure — excessive energy.

The 8" Cerametallic™ woofer cone is lighter, stronger and better damped than commonly used cone materials. Cerametallic™ is a specially treated aluminum that has been anodized, or electro-chemically transformed into ceramic on both outer surfaces. Similar to the motors of the large compression drivers, a powerful 28oz. magnet drives the woofer, allowing for precise signal tracking without blurring the sound. Aesthetically, the unmistakable copper color of our Cerametallic™ cone gives the RS-7 its distinctive Klipsch Reference look.

The RS-7’s cast-polymer woofer frame, which has high impact tolerance to stabilize the woofer motor and guarantee its critical alignment, is designed to be stronger and more functional than typical driver "baskets," and actually contributes to the overall enhanced performance. The non-magnetic woofer basket eliminates any loss of magnetic energy needed for output and dynamic headroom. And the unique venting system cools the motor and voice coil to enhance reliability.

The RS-7 surround speaker features Klipsch’s exclusive Wide Dispersion Surround Technology™ (WDST). WDST enhances rear channel performance because it gives the surrounds the capability to produce the diffuse effects needed for envelopment as well as the direct sounds necessary for good localization. The optimal 180? sound pattern of the surrounds makes the new Reference Series surrounds less sensitive to room placement, allowing greater flexibility in a home theater setup.

The high quality crossover networks of the RS-7 are carefully designed for an improved blend between the lower midrange and upper bass frequencies. They are wired exclusively with custom manufactured Z-Series Monster Cable®. This materials upgrade (which is part of a strategic alliance with Monster Cable that will place this premium brand wire in all Klipsch Reference Series loudspeakers) ensures top-of-the-line connection from the electronics all the way through to the voice coil of each Klipsch audio system. The Z-Series Monster Cable® comes in three frequency specific designs for enhanced definition and detail. Klipsch is the first and only manufacturer to have made a performance commitment to use Monster Cable in a complete line of products.
