WITH "HEADROOM MAXIMIZER III" CIRCUIT
With an amplifier based on M&K's state-of-the-art MX-5000THX, this exciting product hasthe articulation, low distortion, dynamic headroom, and "quick" sound that have made M&K the referencestandard in THX subwoofers. The conservative 150 watt RMS internal amplifier rating of the MX-150THX means significant output and wide dynamic range. But M&K's new HEADROOM MAXIMIZER III exceeds expectations by insuring maximum output and full signal dynamics while preventing amplifier clipping and audible distress with transparent sound. Unlike competitive subwoofers, it allows both full RMS power and dynamic headroom to the maximum capability of the amplifier. Its transparent operation means extraordinary musical performance with maximum possible output and dynamic range. The MX-150THX is certified to UL, CSA, and IEC65 electrical safety standards by ETL Testing Laboratories.
PUSH-PULL DUAL DRIVER DEEP BASS CONFIGURATION
The MX-150THX's Deep Bass sealed-box design produces significant deep bass output down, with an in-room response flat to frequencies well below 20 Hz. Many other THX subwoofers have vented cabinets, giving them an extremely sharp rolloff below the lower limit of their "flat" response. By reproducing bass frequencies lower than 20 Hz, the MX-150THX has a lifelike power and authority that these other subwoofers cannot match. M&K's Push-Pull Dual Driver Configuration delivers a major improvement in bass detail and articulation by virtually eliminating even-order harmonic distortion and doubling the sound power per watt of amplifier power, for 6 dB of additional output!
NEW, HIGH-PERFORMANCE MAGNETICALLY SHIELDED DRIVER
The MX-150THX's new, long-throw 12" magnetically shielded driver is capable of significant output levels to below 20 Hz, and it does not require the subwoofer to be placed two to three feet away from the television!
NEW FEATURES: LINKWITZ-RILEY LOW PASS FILTER (THX CROSSOVER) WHEN USED WITH M&K HP-80 HIGH PASS FILTER
The MX-150THX provides a two-position subwoofer phase (polarity) switch. Because it is designed for low (preamp) level inputs (THX/surround controllers, preamps, crossovers), it it does not include speaker level inputs. If you don't have a THX controller, MX-150THX has the same fixed 80 Hz 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley low pass filter found in THX controllers. With the high pass 80 Hz filter used in THX controllers, the combination acoustically forms a 4th order Linkwitz-Riley crossover. The linear phase of these filters optimizes speaker performance and simplifies speaker set-up, because in virtually all cases, regardless of the room and the locations of the listeners and speakers, the overlapping acoustic output of the satellites and subwoofer will sum near-perfectly. This makes a seamless "splice" between the upper range of the subwoofer and the lower range of the satellite speakers, all without calibration or adjustment.
The MX-150THX cabinet dimensions are 23" high by 15 1/4" wide by 19 5/8" deep. It weighs 74 lbs.
