MASSIVE 12 GAUGE STEEL BAFFLE ELIMINATES IN-WALL VIBRATION

The SW-95 baffle actually reinforces drywall with the most rigid platform possible - 12 gauge steel. Even the mounting rails are 13 gauge steel and U-shaped - eliminating the vibration common to in-walls constructed of plastic.

QUICK & EASY THREE-WAY INSTALLATION

Just guide the preassembled package into the wall cutout and tighten four screws to securely mount the speaker in walls or ceilings. You can install directly to existing construction; to new construction (with the optional preconstruction bracket kit SPRE-95) anywhere between studs; or as a simple bolt-in direct replacement upgrade to any currently installed Sonance™ bracket for models 1(A), II, or III. Convert an ordinary in-wall speaker to audiophile-quality sound!

UNPRECEDENTED VISUAL BEAUTY WITH FRAMELESS MAGNETIC GRILLE

M&K's frameless magnetic grille eliminates the cheap look of a typical in-wall speaker—the look-alike rectangular plastic frame surrounding a metal grille of most in-walls is no coincidence - many of them have literally come from the same mold in a plant somewhere in the Far East!

Consider the U.S.-made SW-95. Its frameless look is a designer's delight. Its perforated metal grille is white powder coated over a zinc-fortified epoxy-base (most conventional in-wall speakers have unprotected painted grilles that are subject to corrosion in high humidity areas). Custom-magnetized seven-pole magnets mount the grille to the baffle, eliminating the need for an unattractive frame and securing the grille with more than enough strength for ceiling mounts. Simply paint the grille with the same latex paint as the surrounding wall and watch it disappear into the wall.

PHASE-FOCUSED CROSSOVER & SAME DRIVERS AS REFERENCE S-5000THX

Other in-wall speakers fall far short in performance compared to high-quality stand-alone speakers. The SW-95 uses the exact same drivers as the renowned M&K S-5000THX, and it uses the exact same type of Phase-Focused crossover found on M&K's highest-performance speakers.

Unlike other in-wall speakers, this crossover provides remarkably even coverage of sound in both the horizontal and vertical planes—without the lobing and hot spots of lesser speakers. This means superior imaging and integration of sound, whether the speaker is used in a stereo or a 5.1 multichannel surround system. The crossover optimizes sound quality and imaging when the speaker is located above listeners' ears, including in the ceiling (no tweeter aiming is necessary!).

ACOUSTICAL BACKWAVE & WALL TREATMENT KIT INCLUDED

A special acoustical foam chamber significantly enhances the SW-95's sound by breaking up the backwave produced by the back side of the woofer driver. In a wall, this backwave reflects off drywall, studs, etc., and produces an audible smearing of sound and an irregular frequency response. This kit eliminates these sonic degradations, and is a feature otherwise found only on some of the most expensive audiophile-quality speakers.

REMOTE SWITCHING OF TONAL BALANCE FOR HOME THEATER OR MUSIC

Multiple inputs allow you to remotely switch between two choices of tonal balances when a three or four-conductor wire is used. One choice gives you a maximum output home theater position that matches the S-5000THX and S-150THX speakers, and the other gives you a lower-level music listening position. You can also remotely select an optional built-in 80 Hz high-pass filter for systems without separate electronic high-pass filters that need to produce high SPL with high-powered amplifiers. Either choice can also be hard-wired at the time of installation.

For use as a surround channel speaker (or as a front channel), the SW-95 is timbre-matched to all M&K Satellites.
